Need to dispute a debit card transaction?

Dispute ServicesCentury Next Bank partners with Shazam®, our debit card processor, to alert our customers of suspected fraudulent transactions on debit card purchases. If a fraudulent transaction does occur, Shazam’s dispute service allows the primary cardholder to file a dispute and navigate the claim process with a Shazam Dispute Representative. This service is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week for CNext checking account customers.

Examples of fraudulent charges, or unauthorized transactions, include being double-charged by a merchant, canceling a subscription but still being charged, paying for an item that was never received, or other types of transactions not authorized by you.

How Transaction Disputes Work:

  1. You notice unusual charges on your account.
    1. First, be sure that no one else in your home made the purchase.
    2. Next, confirm that it isn’t a purchase for something in the future, such as travel.
    3. Also, consider if this is annual subscription, a membership, or a charitable donation that slipped your mind.
  2. Call Shazam at 833-288-1126
    1. Once you have confirmed that this is a fraudulent transaction, call a Shazam Dispute Representative to begin an investigation.
      1. Be sure to have your debit card number ready when you call.
      2. If you have already contacted the merchant of the questionable transaction, the Dispute Representative will want to know the date you contacted them, the name of the person you spoke to, and his/her response about the inquiry.
      3. Have available any information you may have about an order - tracking numbers, invoices, contracts, service agreements, etc.
      4. If the fraudulent transaction relates to a returned or canceled service, you may need to supply the date you returned items or canceled the service, or a confirmation number of the cancelation/return.
  3. Your Shazam Dispute Representative will investigate the claim and ask you to verify details of the dispute with supporting documents and signatures. To keep your dispute moving quickly, they will work via email whenever possible. You will be notified of a decision by Shazam when the investigation is completed. An estimated time frame will be provided at the time of your call.

Note: Transaction disputes must be made within 60 days of the transaction appearing on your account.
